Shikata Ga Naiis now officially available for your listening needs!
Go on over to the BandCamp page where you can stream, download, and purchase the LP copy of the release.
We are also performing the music at the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge on Friday, October 19th, which will be preceded by a lecture on the subject by Dr. James Klein.
Thanks for stopping by!
So lots of big news here.
1st: The Kickstarter was successfully funded! For folks who are receiving physical goods as a reward, you will be contacted soon (if you haven’t already been) about when your items will be arriving.
2nd: The recording of the piece is done! The Chicago ensemble got together at Electrical Audio in Chicago, and with Greg Norman engineering and mixing, we knocked out both pieces in one day (mixed and ready to master!) Speaking of which, Corey Schreppel mastered the recording and it sounds great!
3rd: The masters were sent to the pressing plant and if I’m correct, work is starting to be done on the vinyl pressing as we speak. They say 6-8 weeks, so we’ll see how that turns out. Expect more details about the vinyl as the come forth. I can tell you that it will be black vinyl.
4th: The Boston ensemble has a performance at the Middle East Upstairs! Here’s the info: http://tinyurl.com/9z6tk2l
This performance will be one of (hopefully) more that will combine the music of the project with the presentation of the history. We’re working with a few folks on this, and I’ll post more info about as we get closer. It’s only $5 in advance, just like Fugazi.
I think that’s all for now…thanks for checking in.
…and welcome to the official website for the Shikata Ga Nai project! In the coming days, more information will be added and we’ll have a fully functioning website up here! Until then, feel free to look around and we’ll keep you posted on all the latest happenings with the project.
